Out of Hours
Out of hours GP services are arranged by North Tyneside Primary Care Trust and are provided by qualified doctors and nurses. You may receive telephone advice from a doctor or be asked to attend a local primary care centre for an examination. If, for medical reasons, travel is impossible, a home visit from a doctor can be arranged. For out of hours services please telephone 0300 123 4343.

Telephone advice/consultations
Sometimes you may want to speak to a doctor or nurse about something but do not need to come into the surgery for a  face-to-face appointment.

If you would like to talk to someone over the phone, you can contact reception, who will take your number and arrange a suitable time

Cancelling your Appointment
If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone or use the link at the bottom of this page to cancel your appointment.

Teaching and Training

Teaching and Training

Wellspring places great importance on helping to train the doctors and nurses of the future.  Several of our team have a special interest in teaching.  You may be asked to see a GP Registrar - a fully qualified doctor who will be with us for up to a year to help to train them in specialising in general practice.  Appointments with a GP Registrar can sometimes take a little longer during their first few weeks.

From time to time the GP Registrar will video-tape consultations, if you agree. You will be asked to sign a consent form both before and afterwards, and you can change your mind at any point.  The doctor will show the consultation to his or her trainer (Dr Findlay) who will discuss the video to help improve the doctor's consultation skills.

You may also be asked if you will agree to having a medical or nursing student  sit in on your consultation or visit you in your home.  This is to help the students to learn how to communicate well with patients and also to learn about how to treat the kind of problems that patients bring to a GP or nurse in general practice.  If you do not agree to include a student in your care, you are entitled to refuse.  Simply tell the receptionist or the doctor.
